The Process

1. Discovery & Research

We studied public health alert systems and mapped friction points from recent global health events. User interviews and competitor audits revealed gaps in speed, personalization, and emotional clarity.

2. UX Strategy & Design

We designed the full journey from onboarding to action, featuring real-time alerts, crowdsourced health data, personalized tips, and a map of nearby testing and crisis response centers.

3. Prototyping & Visual Design

The UI was built in Figma, optimized for low-bandwidth regions. Icons, color hierarchy, and visual feedback were all structured to minimize confusion and promote confidence under stress.

Impact

Amber was awarded first place at the MIT PathCheck 2023 UI/UX Hackathon, earning recognition for its clear, intuitive design under pressure, a scalable UX structure adaptable to various health scenarios, and its real-world readiness to support public health response systems.
